Dunajské luhy Protected Landscape Area is an extensive alluvial wetland ecosystem connected to the Gabčíkovo waterworks and the unique inland Danube delta. It was formed by the natural dynamics of surface and groundwater, which preserved the original character of the landscape. These floodplain habitats provide valuable space for numerous plant and animal species. Their protection requires active water and forest management measures to improve conditions for local flora and fauna. The area was designated a protected landscape on May 1, 1998.
